Random Monday Thoughts:

They say you learn something new everyday. Today I learned that I need to get my hair cut; my bangs look awful! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get an appointment in this week but it needs to be done soon. I guess that’s a downside to short hair – it needs to be cut more often if I want it to stay short. My hair seems to be getting greasy more quickly too (is that too much information? greasy hair is gross, I know.) but I’m attributing that to a shampoo change that just wasn’t meant to be. I’m switching back. Tomorrow!

The aviators are new. I had to stop at Marshall’s after school to pick up dress socks for Z. and I couldn’t leave without picking these up. I’ve seen more people wearing aviators this spring and they’re definitely different from my other sunglasses. These are big but glasses that are too small just don’t look good on my face. I’ve tried, it doesn’t turn out well. I think I like them. I had been toying with the idea of getting a pair of Ray-Bans (Jackie Ohhs in red) but I just don’t think I can rationalize the cost. I broke three (yeah, three) pairs of sunglasses when we were in Hawaii two years ago and I have no reason to think that I’m any more careful today than I was back then. I think I’m destined for sunglasses that cost less than $15. Sad, maybe. But at least I don’t have to hate myself if something happens to them.

sweater: Tulle

shoes: Kors by Michael Kors

Finally, a good day! It’s sunny, warm, and I’m wearing red shoes! Things just went right today and I’m so glad to have kicked whatever was bugging me (school, probably) in time for the weekend.

I so excited to go home! I ordered a bike and it’s supposed to be in today. Z. was going to drive up to get it this afternoon and it (fingers crossed) should be waiting for me when I get home from school. So fun! I haven’t had a bike as an adult and I’m really, really looking forward to having one. Boy, they’re expensive, but we took advantage of our 20% off coupon at REI and honestly, I plan to ride it forever. My mom still has her original adult bike and I see no reason to not follow in her footsteps! Hopefull I still remember how to ride…

I still haven’t quite worked myself out of my funk from last week hence my lack of posts here. My life just has a few too many things going on right now. Don’t you hate that?! Things will start to sort themselves out in the next few months but that isn’t helpful right now! School? It’s crazy and it’s only going to get worse. Our house? Also crazy. We’re finishing up our renovations (this house was a huge, rewarding undertaking that I’ll post about sometime) but have to get ready to sell. Maybe. Husband’s potential job? Things are still moving along but there’s no definite time-line for it which drives me crazy! I think I should probably take up meditation. Or start running again. Seriously.

Anyone have any advice about Atlanta? We’re driving down for a few days next week and aren’t quite sure what to do with our free time. I’ve never been to Atlanta before so I’m really looking forward to it!

I wasn’t in love with this outfit when I put it on in the morning (seems to be a trend this week, I must be in a funk) but I’m liking it now. My elephant necklace got rave reviews from a few students. Strangely enough, they were male students. I may teach teenagers, but I don’t always , usually ever understand them. They do make life interesting though.

Outside of school my life is feeling a bit crazy at the moment. My husband (it’s strange to type that – I almost never use the “h” word in real life) is applying for a job that, if he gets it, will require a pretty big move. I’m excited about the possibility but also nervous about all that it will entail. I’m a planner so my brain has been on overdrive for the last few days. I’m ready for something new but I’m also wary of getting too into this plan in case things don’t work out. It’s such a struggle! Argh!

I’m going to do my best to relax this weekend. We have no plans and that sounds perfect to me!

I hate mornings when I decide at the last minute that my outfit is all wrong. It just starts the day off on a bad note. I’m not sure why it happens. There wasn’t anything wrong with the outfit I was going to wear; I’m sure I’ll wear it sometime in the near future. And the rushing-around-changing-thing doesn’t put me in a great mood. I’ve gotten better with it now that I pick my outfits out in the evening (thanks blogging!) but it still happens on a somewhat regular basis. Why do I do this to myself?! They’re just clothes! And I don’t have any really awful clothing in my closet so I’m probably not going to stumble into a terrible/embarassing outfit.

Self, stop it!

One of my friends on Facebook commented that spring break as an adult is depressing compared to spring break in college. I disagree! I enjoy my spring breaks so much more now; I appreciate the time off and take advantage of it! I feel that way about life in general though. I enjoy being 28 so much more than I enjoyed being 18. High school was fine. College was fine. Adult life involves more work, maybe, but it offers more opportunities as well. I definitely think that the years just keep getting better. Okay, enough seriousness. I sound like my mom.

My sister and I went to New Orleans for Easter and had an amazing time; the trip really couldn’t have been better. We’re back home now and the depression has set in for both of us. Well, not really. The weather is still gorgeous and I’m so glad that it feels like spring! I’m just not happy that I have to go to work on a daily basis. And wear real shoes. I miss my flip flops! I have a feeling that the next two months are going to drag on. On the bright side (literally), at least it’s light when I leave the house now.

I made my sister pose for a few pictures while we were in NOLA. We have totally different styles but had fun with it!

Old dress, new haircut! I went with more bangs this time and I like it, I think. It will take me a few days to get used to it; I’m not good with change. It’s fun and not too serious which is what I was going for. I think bangs feel fun to me because them remind me of being a kid.

I didn’t wear this dress to school today, it’s too short. I wore it a few times in the winter with black tights and a long cardigan but it’s too short to wear without something on my legs. We’re supposed to keep our skirts/dresses/shorts no more than four inches above the knee. I can’t say that I follow that rule but I try to be close so as to avoid unnecessary conversations with my principals.
