I’m jumping over to blogger, so if you’ve been following me here then come along. I’ll be moving over some of my posts here (mainly travel) over the next couple days. I’m still planning to do style blogging, I’m just going to mix in a bit more of my life as well; I think it’s going to be a good change. I’m excited!

See you there!

Wardrobe Workhorses

Honestly, it took very little time to narrow down my wardrobe workhorses. There are a few things in my closet that I just couldn’t live without or really, really don’t want to; if you took these things away from me, my wardrobe would be dramatically different and less pleasing to me. The go-to items that I consider workhorses are: pencil skirts, belts, and cardigans. At any given time [during the school year] I’m wearing at least one of those items and probably more than one.

Honorable Mention (although these, perhaps, are less vital to my wardrobe and more vital to me feeling like *me*) goes to: The color gray. pockets, and my watch. Picking a color might be stretching it, but I couldn’t live without that color. It’s my neutral of choice and it makes me sad to think of my world without gray! Likewise, I need pockets. I can’t function without a place to put the keys for my classroom and also a place to stick my hands. Outfits without pockets seem like they’re missing something and I’m always excited when I find dresses with hidden pockets! And watches, they keep me sane. If I’m not wearing a watch I spend most of my time wondering what time it is. The solution is, of course, to wear a watch which I do at all times. I’ve been this way since high school and truly have trouble functioning without one. I sometimes take it off for pictures (false advertising?) or when I’m in the sun (hello, awesome tan line) but that’s about it. If I accidentally leave the house without it I either suffer from a meltdown or, if at all possible, turn around it get it. I’m addicted.

sorry, sorry.

I’m sorry. I’ve been terrible at blogging this week. It’s hot, school’s busy (two weeks left!), my trusty photographer has been out of town, and I’ve been attempting to nail down some vacation plans. Mix all that together and you end up with one very lonely, sad blog. As penance, I offer up these pictures taken last Friday, or maybe two Friday’s ago. I’m not sure and I’m much too lazy to spend 10 seconds figuring out which one it is.

A cold, rainy Tuesday feel a lot like a Monday. In other worlds, today wasn’t the best. I think this weekend spoiled me; I want sun and temperatures in the high 70s! At least I have Lost to look forward to (the Richard episode!); that show makes every Tuesday better. It’s my favorite show right now, by far.

I’m trying hard but taking pictures outside just feels awkward and I didn’t want to spend more time than was necessary in the cold/wind/rain. Picking the background went something like this: Walk out the front door and look left, right. Husband points at the yellow building two doors from our house. I run there, smile, and run home. It may have taken five minutes. Tops. So do I like the pictures? Not especially. But I liked standing outside even less! I do like the shoes though. This was the first time I wore them for an entire day and they didn’t cause any major problems.

Gorgeous day.  Why can’t they all be like this?  I’m so happy for decent weather!  I love not having to wear tights every single day of the week.  Remind me that I said that in October when I can’t wait to start breaking them out.

Friday’s are “jeans day” at school but I refuse to pay $2 every week to the social committee.  They’re lame.  Of course they’re probably thinking the same thing about me.  I’d also have to wear a high school t-shirt (ugh) or a college shirt (not quite as ugh, but not me either).  I get around it by wearing my jean skirt.  Frequently.  It’s my own Friday tradition.  I’m not sure if it’s one I should try to break or not.  I’ve transitioned to mostly dresses and skirts at school anyway, so wearing real jeans (like I did on Wednesday) feels really strange.  I have to spend twice as much time thinking about my outfits when they involve pants.  I have better ways to spend my time at 5:30am.  Much better ways.

St. Patrick’s Day. I think this is the only green in my closet.  At least it’s the only green that I’m willing to wear.  The outfit is fine, comfortable; I’d wear it again.  I tend to feel strange wearing jeans to school but I think I managed to look decently professional with them on.  Not that the students care.  The shoes were great but alas, they didn’t make it into the photo.  Live and learn.  The dandelion is definitely my favorite part.  The husband picked it for me.  He’s sweet!  Or maybe he was weeding the yard…  I’ll never know.  Either way, I’m glad that spring is here for the next few days!  I thought winter would never end and I’m anxious to become reacquainted with my spring and summer clothes. I actually pulled out the boxes and looked through them.  I’m not sure I’m ready to make the leap though; I’d hate to start wearing them and then have to go back to the cold-weather clothing.  I don’t think I could handle that!

Posing for pictures isn’t as easy as it looks.  I’m hoping it becomes more natural with time!
